The "Suan Pan Zi" team

Maria videoed the joy of making hakka "suan pan zi". Mum, Lia, Maria, Johnny, Lois, Soo Fong and Nicholas were having a fun time preparing the ingredients and forming the shape of abacus from the dough. Is it called the dough? I'm not sure. Anyway, I can see that each of them was doing their part and enjoying it.

Trying out a new recipe to me is always mysterious and exciting. However, it is also challening because most of us would want the best "end result". Though the "end result" may be important, but the entire process of preparations and getting into action is far more enjoyable, satisfying and perhaps therapeutic. I always find it really therapeutic especially when I do baking, the lingering smell from the oven would lift me up.

Children's day

Today is Children's day.

I wish all the children in the world are happy, healthy,
receive lots of love, hugs and kisses from their parents.
At the same time, learn from mistakes, embrace challenges,
self-driven and believe in themselves.

I wish parents love their child as they are and not have
unrealistic expectations of their child. Teach them well
and lead the way. Give children support and guidance.
Always listen to their child and attend to his/her
concerns patiently.  I know, I know, it's easier said than done.

Plants

I wanted to throw the pot and soil away as my previous plant withered.
Sean suggested throwing some seeds so that he could have his "fruit
tree". I was cutting some lemons and was thinking to myself,
may be I should throw these seeds into the pot. It was a pleasant
surprise that after some time, I realise that "germination" actually
took place ! Now I can't wait to see my first lemon !

Art Moulding Class

Sean and I went for "Art Moulding" class which was held on a Saturday
morning at his school. The art lesson was meant to help parent bonds
with their child during the lesson. It was certainly an enjoyable
experience as I get to understand how Sean wanted his final product
to look like.

Sean chose "Winnie the Pooh" to be the mould and we just followed the
instructions given by the teacher. It was made using yards and yards
of cling wraps, coloured papers and glitters. During the process,
patience and co-operation obviously needed between parent and child.
Sean was thrilled when we put the bulbs into the mould,
it sure look great. Not bad, isn't it?
